This Registers, Grilles & Vents give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Not like the pictures!
The photos make this fireplace look MUCH more attractive than it actually is. The outside is very nice but the flame pattern is not even close to the photos.

The flames actually only go up about 4 inches from the bottom and are very hard to see, even in low lighting. As a matter of fact the reflection off the bottom shelf is easier to see than the actual flame pattern itself. And this reflection would disappear as soon as you placed the stones on the shelf, which I will not be doing because I am packing this thing up and sending it back asap.

Also the photos make the unit look much more "flush mounted" than is possible. Looking at the photos you see a SMALL shadow around the outside lip of the unit, but all together this thing sticks out from the wall over 6 inches. And you can't set it into the wall because it vents to the sides and top so it would be a fire hazard.

2. good ambiance
We were pleased with this product. We bought it for our bedroom and it puts off a nice ambiance. It looks just as it does in the picture, but I do agree it sticks out a little bit further than expected. We initially thought we would recess it in the wall, but the heater blows out the top so that is out of the question. It would not prevent me from buying it again.
It doesn't put off a ton of heat, but it will get the room (with the door closed) cozy after it's on a bit. The flames are sufficient. It comes with a remote control which can be used to dim the flames or make them brighter.
I would purchase this product again. It would be perfect for a 3 seasons room or bathroom with soaking tub.

Pretty Good
In my effort to find an attractive "space heater" for my kitchen I found this item. I do like it and it is serving its purpose. That said, I found it a little beat up upon arrival but something I could repair myself. Secondly, the unit really needs to be placed on a wall that is only seen from the front side as it protrudes a bit from the wall which makes it unattractive if you enter the room seeing if from a profile. My remedy since I did not have a wall as described was to corner it. I built a corner support unit so it is properly suspended off the floor. I think they should offer one for purchase for those consumers who would like this but need to corner it.

1. Disappointing
I bought this heater based on some reviews - the features mentioned in other reviews I actually mostly agree with. It is quiet, it has a nice display and the unit is small. But - as far as effectiveness as a heater it stinks. Unless you're heating a very small room it's inadequate. I have some other small space heaters and they are more noisy but they run less and heat more. I'd trade the quiet for better throughput. When the vornado runs for a long time (hours) The output seems to be noticeably less warm than when it first runs. The unit also has a safety feature which automatically turns it off in case it's tipped. This is a great safety feature that should be in all space heaters but on the vornado the switch is so sensitive that it sometimes turned off even if it's just lightly bumped even though it's still sitting completely upright. Even on hardwood floors I have to go press the unit down to get it to start heating again. I would not buy another and am even more upset at its...

2. Extraordinarily quiet, but great output
I purchased the heater for our bathroom. I have been through quite a few bathroom heaters. It's the only room that I want a little toasty. This so far is the best, it's quiet, so quiet I didn't think it would work, but quickly effective.

Perfect for the nursery
We got this heater to maintain the temperature in the nursery without having to heat the whole house. It's great! I was always worried that my little one would get too hot or cold during the night. This gives me one less thing to worry about. Bonus points for providing pleasant t white noise and for being a fan (noted for reducing risk of SIDS). Worth the price for the reassurance but still high in my opinion.

Toasty and warm
I have bought several room heaters over the years, but this is by far the best. No worries about tip overs or safety issues. It is well worth the price. I have bought several small heaters over the years and they never last. I love the flame feature because I can't have a real fireplace. The unit is also nice looking and easy to move. If you are considering one of these you won't be disappointed. Others complained about the noise, but it really isn't that noticeable. It is definitely not as loud as a fan running even on low, which drives me nuts.

I saw this product advertised in an online article about exciting new products and I was instantly in love with it. I ordered it in orange and I feel that this color helps to amplify the flame effect. It definitely can't fool you into believing it might be real, but it's beautiful nonetheless. I hardly use anything other than the glow setting, but the heater works really well too. Upon seeing that the white one was over almost 25% off for a short period of time, I took advantage of the deal to order a second one to use in my office. I wish they made one that was a little bigger, maybe more rectangular, but overall I am tremendously satisfied with my purchases.

Bought this to heat up my garage when I need to do a project in the winter (I'm in the Northeast). Amazon had the best price - prompt delivery. It does a good job(my garage is about 400 sq-ft), uses a standard 20# propane tank . Nice and compact for storage when you're not using it.

It's a bit loud and I wish there was a setting to control the amount of heat (it's either full on or off) but for the money it can't be beat. I have a 2 car garage shop and it will make the room warm within about 20 minutes.

PERFECT - I have no complaints
The heater arrived in picture-perfect condition two days after I ordered it. Within five minutes, after UPS left, I had it set up and making heat. It has worked flawlessly for several days now. Starts right up every time and heats up my two-car garage in about twenty minutes. Yes, it is a little noisy, but that is characteristic of these types of heaters.

1. Do you wanna feel some heat?
Heat, if that's what you want, this heater will give it to you. Before I tell you what's good about this heater, let me tell you why I only gave it 4 stars. The reason: This heater doesn't have a thermostat. It is a completely manual turn on and off unit. It does have a timer, but I still haven't figured out when to use the timer other then putting it in a room and leaving the room knowing it will shut off when it reaches the time I set. Other than that I can't think of another reason except maybe when you go to sleep it will shut off, but it will get cold if it shuts off and you'll have to get up or use the remote to turn it back on. Either way, it's not a big deal. This heater is well worth the money. It has a gorgeous dish with diamond cuts throughout the inside and when it's on, wow, the look alone is worth the money. It also warms you like the sun. We have a fairly large media room and this heater makes us quite comfortable. We don't even have to put the main house heat on. Now...

2. shot sparks all over my bedroom
I only had this heater about 3 days when, after having been on for 4 hours (not an excessive amount of time), it started shooting sparks out of its back. I was in bed falling asleep, and don't want to think about what would have happened had I slept through it.

You'll need a Phillip and about 20 min as the instructions aren't clear and putting it all together is a matter of trial and error. The actual oscillation is a bit wobbly and all plastic parts looked "used". The remote works well from my bed and is perfect for warming up the room the short time between hitting the snooze button and actually getting out of bed.

We have 4 of these units in a newly remodelled home. After 3 winters, two do not work, one will not go off and I don't expect the forth to last much longer.

2. not warm enough
I have the Nutone 9114NT, which is exactly the same unit. I can almost feel heat when I am dry, but due to wind chill, after I towel off and stand in front of it, it feels cold! I record 112.5V and 10.62 amps, so I'm actually getting 1200W. At the grill, I have 300F, but the air very quickly mixes with ambient air and by the time it gets out from under the kickspace overhang, it is a degree above ambient. (Fortunately, I bought mine at a steep discount, since the the unit is discontinued under the Nutone name)

1. 30-80K Portable Propane Convection Heater
I use the Mr. Heater 30-80K convection heater in my garage, which is roughly 625 SF with high 14 ft. ceilings, CMU block wall, un-insulated ceiling. During winter months of the teens outside, I can bring the inside temp of my garage up to 70 degrees within a short time. However, you may need to hang a box fan up near the ceiling or install a ceiling fan to circulate the heat back down, it puts out a strong trickle of heat in a 360 degree radius that is easy to regulate to keep from alternating between freezing and roasting.

The biggest plus for me with this unit it the lack of objectionable fumes as are produced by forced air kerosene heaters, the propane burns clean and is easy to purchase at my local filling station, no spills or lugging around 5 gallon containers of kerosene.

If massive amounts of heat are what you want, you should consider the forced air propane heater made by Mr. Heater. They put out massive quantities of heat in short order.

2. Is this safe? I'm not taking chances...
First let me say I've had good experience with other Mr Heater products. I own the buddy and big buddy heaters, and I love them and have NEVER had a problem with them (with exception to the brittle plastics).

With that said, I am torn on this product. I had high expectations based on reviews I've read, product literature, features, specs and prior Mr Heater experience.

Why I bought it:
Emergency preparedness. To heat our home in the event of a power failure during the snow storms that have been sweeping the country. I bought this because its efficient, affordable, portable, easy to use, clean heat. I bought this because our kerosene heater is WAY too expensive to operate, because Kerosene is harder to find, and because Kerosene is a dirty heat. Propane is cheap, available every where, stable, long lasting (shelf life), and very efficient. I bought it because it puts out an incredible amount of BTUs.

This is a great heat generator, and sounds like a jet when running full blast. I love it, but when I use it on the covered patio of a party people think it is too loud. For working around it is good, but for a party situtation I wish I had found one of the short unbrella style heaters instead, the radiat the heat down better and are not loud.

It's quiet and puts out alot of heat. I like that you can wire it either 120 or 240, it's a nice option. The only reason I deducted 1 star is the timer. The timer is quite loud and cannot be reset.

Heats, but not very fast
This heater was installed in our new construction home as the primary heater for the master bathroom. The heater does put out heat, but I am unimpressed with the speed of the fan and how slowly the room heats up. Previously we had used a plug-in ceramic style heater that seemed to heat the room significantly faster. I believe that they are the same watt output, it may just be that the fan in this Cadet is low enough as to not evenly distribute the heated air. If you turn it on far enough in advance of needing it, things will work fine.

Last complaint is that there should be a way to turn off the timer clicking. While not exactly loud or distracting, a silent operation would be better.

Been running the Lifesmart Infrared heater for the last 4 days and i think its a keeper.
We lowered our downstairs thermostat to 60 and cranked up the Lifesmart on high. It took several hours before the thermostat was satisfied when set to 68 degrees.
Once it cycled off and on a couple times, i tried raising the thermostat to 72. It never shut off. Looks like 66-68 is going to be the sweet spot if we dont want it running continuously.

I have it in a room that measures 13'x27' with 8' ceilings. We put up sheets to block double wide openings into adjacent rooms.
We put a temp gauge on the shelf and it does read around 68-70 degrees when the unit cycles off.

So is this thing going to heat a 1,000 to 1,500 sq. ft. area? I really doubt it, but it does a decent job of heating the room i purchased it for. It even has an off/on timer which...

I was interested in these types of heaters but after reading some of the reviews I was unsure. I decided to try it after a friend told me they had one and loved it. I live in NH and bought this to help heat my 500sq ft mobile home....well I am pleased to say that it has been heating my home all by itself, I have it set on low and on 68* and it keeps the whole place at that temp( I also run a fan to circulate the air)....its been in the low 20's and its done great! My propane furnace hasn't run once since I got this heater which is great at 3.40 a gallon for propane! I haven't gotten the 1st electricity bill yet, but I have figured out on low it uses 1000 watts an hour which is 1 kilo watt an hour and at .16 cents a kilo watt/hr thats $3.85 a day if it ran constantly which it does not, it cycles on and off so my bill shouldn't be that bad compared to propane costs....we will see. I recommend this heater to anyone looking to supplement their heating bill...its been doing a great job for...

Noisy and unreliable
The LS1500-6 is bulkier and very noisy compared to the LS1500-4. We have both, and even though the LS1500-6 looks nicer, it's not worth dealing with the extra noise. Also, in terms of heating capability both models seemed about the same to us. The LS1500-6 failed on us after only 2 weeks of use, and vminnovations wanted us to pay forty bucks to ship it back to them for a replacement, plus shipping costs for the new unit - ridiculous. We should have dealt directly with amazon since they have a better return policy for dealing with defective merchandise.

With dozens of so called "ceramic" portable heaters on the market it can be very difficult to sort through all the models. Here are the facts friends; Pelonis (Del Rain) pionerred the original fully ceramic portable heaters back in the mid 80's...these models use 100% ceramic heating (disc design) elements and will approximately double the amount of heat available, watt for watt, than all other so called "ceramic" heaters. My Dad bought an original Peopnis disc furnace in 1982 because it was used on NASA flights to heat the spacecrafts. How cold does it get up there???
We still have it and it works great.

I have bought over 25 Pelonis furnaces since then. They originally called them furnaces for a reason. Here are the pros and cons. The ones with forced air are not as good as the true ceramic. The ones with out the ceramic discs are not any better than other cheap heaters. The Original ceramic only are excellent par anything They heat up the rooms in our trailer from 25 degrees to 75 degrees 10x12 rooms) and turn off automatically in about 15 minutes. That is unbelieveable The heat penetrates into the furniture and into you. It is not just ehating the air it heats the contents of the room. We did get a black plastic one and it did melt the case when we had it too close to a metal item but oh well, it still runs 10 years later!!! I recommend the original Pelonis with temp...

1. Great Room or Office Heater
I received this heater for Christmas for my home office. The room is 12 x 16 and it is the last room in the house to get heat. It is usually 10 degrees colder than other rooms. This heater is extremely well made and sturdy. It took me a few times to find the setting I wanted to warm the room to the temperature I wanted but it has maintained it perfectly since then. I highly recommend this heater if you want one that makes very little noise and prefer a low profile instead of the radiator look.

2. Stop working
I bought it for my bathroom because its not well insulated. It worked fine for the first three months but then it stopped. Only used it for a hour a day heating up a small space and it die. Plug it in and the light lights up but the heater does not put out hot air. Regretted wasting money.

1. Heat where you want it!
I have owned this heater for at least 4 years now and I love it! The heater adjusts so you can blow the air toward your feet, your head, wherever you wish. I have taken this one camping with me and used it in the tent to make fall camping more comfortable. The size is nice and compact so it doesn't take much space.

2. TPI stood behind their out-of-warranty heater
I purchased one of these small TPI 178 TMC heaters a few years back and I was honestly never much impressed with it. While it was quiet, it hardly had any air or heat output even when run on max fan and max heating. However, I found a perfect application for it, and that was my above-ground well house. Since it is a small 8 ft x 10 ft well-insulated outbuilding, I actually couldn't have a larger output heater in it during the winter months without it putting too much heat out for the small space. Later, I installed a thermostatically-controlled small baseboard heater in my well house and the TPI heater didn't see a lot of regular use after that (as I had a number of other, better heaters).

Then, when I was recently using it, the black plastic swivel mount housing fractured in half, which completely separated the heater unit from its base, which rendered the heater non-operational. I wrote to TPI to see if I could purchase a replacement plastic swivel mount, but as I...

Small, fast, not very loud
I had this heater for several months under my desk now, and I love it. It is usually working on keeping my toes warm, but once its setting "fan only" saved my iPhone that was dropped into water (iPhone recovered after a day of drying and works fine). I don't keep it running all the time, but it heats up in a matter of seconds, so a couple of minutes is enough to get warm. I don't think I would like it on the entire day because I can still hear the fan even though it is not that loud as far as fan forced heaters go.

I bought this to replace an original bathroom wall heater that was over 50 years old. That one had coils and the surface would get real hot. If you left a towel in front of it for awhile, I think it would ignite. The new version has a fan and is much safer. The surface doesn't get very hot and the fan is quiet. I just purchased another one to replace the heater in my other bathroom.

Works great, installed easily
My old wall heater from the 1970's finally burned out. Because that model wasn't available anymore i want with something that looked similar, the Cadet heater. It was very easy to install and took only about an hour from box to turning it on. And it works perfect, heating up the room quickly. It doesn't get as hot as my old heater but i can understand why. The old heater seemed too much of a fire hazard. This new heater covers the heating units and blows the hot air out. Works great.

1. A BEAST
It's a beast in a good way. I write this review from having replaced a 240v 2000 watt heater with this. It's like night and day. This just blasts out the heat. I can stand 5' away and feel the heat washing over me. I'm sort of giddy. It heats up my bedroom in a 3 minutes. I've read some negative reviews of the Cadet thermostat but can't say I agree with them. The unit cycles on and off in stretches. That is it's not constantly cycling. A cynical person would state that this unit is just two single 2000 watt heaters, but it's wired inside as one unit and the can is built specifically for it. The only negative I have is I wish the lead wire were 3-4 inches longer. Also the grill seems flimsy when you're handing it, but it really firms up when is fastened in place. It's only October in MN. I'll add a comment in January.

2. Great heater as supplement or as stand alone..
I have this heater in my 20'x22' garage and have it controlled by a Honeywell 240V thermostat made for baseboard heaters. The fans put out enough air, but without being too noisy. I strongly recommend an auxiliary thermostat, but the factory one works if needed. It works great and gets my garage to room temperature in no time flat. I've had it for almost 4 years now with no issues. I simply remove the grille and vacuum out any dust or debris before the start of each heating season.

1. Heater caught fire!!!!
I have had this heater for about two years. I am a 62 year old grandmother and take good care of my equipment, so this heater has been well cared for. The cord wrapped around the pedestal this morning, creating a tiny bit of tension at the point where to cord enters the back of the fan. There was a loud pop and then flames shooting out of the back of the fan. Thank goodness I was standing right there or my house could have burned down. I will be reporting this to the company than makes them, but I am getting rid of the other identical heater I have. This is a fire hazard.

2. The Best Heater Ever
I bought my Optimus H-4501 heater last month and am super impressed with it. First of all, for anyone who uses a heater at night in their room, having a low-laying floor model makes no sense. It will just point heat at the side of your bed. Having the elevated "heater on stick" model makes all the sense in the world. Now the heat is aiming at you. I have another pedestal heater of a different brand which made its way to my garage, because although it has a shut-off timer, it has no thermostat, so it's either on low, on high, or off. The Optimus has a thermostat, and a good one, not just a dial, but rather a digital display where you pick the desired temperature digitally and the heater turns off when that temperature is reached and back on when the room gets cold again. I've never seen a pedestal heater that has both a timed shut-off feature and a thermostat until I found this one. Also, it's very QUIET in its operation, even while in oscilating mode. I have only had this product for one day as of 01/09/2013. I will comment later if need be.
So far, I don't see any problem with the item itself, HOWEVER, I thought I was buying, and paid for, a new product. It may be new, but the packaging (original) was definitely previously OPENED and then poorly re-boxed. I was skeptical but took the heater out of the box anyway since the box didn't appear to be damaged.
All the parts were there except the two AAA batteries that are advertised as included. This could be an oversight on the person who re-boxed the heater. The remote worked okay but was just tossed loose in the box and could have been damaged or lost, BTW, the box exterior states two AA batteries included! I tried to install two AA 's before I realized only AAA's would fit (dah).

1. It Will Certainly Warm A Medium Sized Room
I use the Air King 8605 to raise the room temperature of my bedroom from 60 degrees to 70 degrees. It works great! There's no fan, so it's noiseless. The upper grate does get hot. I can put my hand on it, without getting burned, but I'd avoid putting it anywhere where small children might touch it. It does put out over 5000 BTUs of heat when turned all the way up, so be prepared for your electric meter to spin.

2. Quiet
I have four of these. They are quiet and work well. In fact, they are silent. We use them to heat bedrooms when using the pellet stove in the main part of the home. The thermostat works well, but doesn't tell you the specific temperature, but once you find the correct setting you just leave it. Excellent heater. Nice looking. Quiet--in fact, silent.

1. Good Energy Efficient Zone Heating
We use these heaters as a source of energy efficient heating for over 4 years now at our inn. They have an adjustable feature that supplies electricity to the silicone filled element to produce heat and then cut off the power when the silicone fluid gets hot. This feature saves energy. We also benefit from only heating those areas we want to keep warm by using zone versus central heat.

We bought them to reduce our usage of the central propane hot air furnace and have saved money by only heating areas needed and reducing propane usage.

They also help keep our yurts comfortable in the winter.

2. Design Flaw
The heater worked fine for a couple of years, then the power switch melted. I replaced the power switch with one having a higher current rating (30A vice 20A) and after a few weeks the unit began to emit a burning electrical smell. I disassembled it and found the Diode Assembly MELTED! A search on the net revealed that this is a common problem. Fahrenheat knows about the problem and even has a repair kit (DB Kit) for $36. The diode alone cost $10, plus $10 shipping. This is a $3 part if you know the specs.

If you buy one of these be aware of the potential DANGEROUS failures. I don't know how UL ever passed this product. It could be a fire hazard. If you don't believe me GOOGLE "Fahrenheat LFP6152 Diode." The fact that Fahrenheat knows about this problem to the point of developing an overpriced repair kit, and doesn't make it right, is inexcusable. I'll never buy another Fahrenheat product.

Sorry to say this heater was not a winner. It did arrive on time and in perfect condition. However upon first use and every subsequent use there after it was very loud and had a horrible rattling sound like it was going to come apart violently. It also produced very little heat, having another heater similar to this one that works wonderfully, I am aware of what a heater like this should put out for heat. I would not suggest this heater to anyone, in fact i would suggest the Fahrenheat Ceiling-Mount 5000 Watt Electric Heater, Model# FUH5-4. I have had the Fahrenheat unit for over six month's now and it perform's as advertised without a single failure.

2. So far so good...
Here is my situation:
I love in northern MN. It gets COLD. I have a 30x60 uninsulated garage/pole barn with 15+ ceilings and a cement floor. I made a "bubble" work area 400 sq.ft (20x20x9) using 4mil plastic within the garage. The heater arrived quickly and in good shape. I already had a 50amp circuit but downsized that to a 30amp and attached the correct female receptacle to fit the unit. Very simply.

I have been impressed with this little heater. I do not find it to be too loud, considering it is made for a garage setting. Some days the temps were in the negatives with windchills in the -20's and in my "bubble" the temp was at least 30 deg. I have recently put studs and insulation between joists at 9ft for the ceiling. This has really helped. The outside temps are in the 20's but "bubble" is in the 50-60 range.

Great for the Workshop
My workshop has been unusable for the last few years. This year, it is great and I can be productive on weekends! I had a 30 amp plug that was installed for some of my tools so that was not an issue. If you don't have one, you should get one put in for large tools and this heater. It is nice and toasty in about an hour and for a room with no insulation, it is able to keep it warm. I highly recommend this to someone looking to warm a work area.

It was love at first sight, A great looking heater, producing oodles of heat - even in upstate New York, and using 1/3 of the wattage of my baseboard heaters - what's not to love? I picked up six of them and mounted them on various walls around the house.
The honeymoon ended after 18 months. The heater in my bedroom started singing a tuneful but dolorous melody whenever it turned on. A few weeks of that and it sang no more. Curious, I removed it from its wall mounting and discovered large, deep cracks on the surface of its backside. Even more curious, I started removing some of the other heaters. Though only three had scary cracks, all showed some signs of cracking. It did not seem to matter whether they had been mounted on interior or exterior walls. They cracked. I wish the manufacturer had gone to Corning for the ceramic!
Fire hazard, I said to myself.
Divorce was inevitable.

2. Very nice for secondary zone heating
As we try to turn back the temps at night, so we dont heat a 2,000 sq ft house, while we sleep under the covers...I have 2 kids which dont always stay under the covers!

So I used the typical space heaters for a while, ugly as the are, and at 750 or 1500 watts, they kept the room temps up just fine.

Along comes this wall unit, at 400 watts. It attaches to the wall, can be painted to match the room, plugs into any outlet, and one can heat a small room by itself.

While I do not recommend these for primary heating, because they take too long to warm up, I HIGHLY recommend them for seconardy zone heating for bedrooms.

Connecting two of more per room, and you probably could use them for primary heating and *could* take the place of base board heaters. But 2 or 3 panels would take up a lot of space and not look good, thus I do not recommend replacing baseboard heaters with these panels.

This is the best
My house is heated by a propane fireplace. With the cost of propane rising dramatically, I bought three of these heaters last year and used them all winter. I heated my full 1200 square foot living area with those three heaters at an approximate cost of $1 per day. I can't recommend these highly enough. And if you have children or pets, they are very safe--they do get hot, but not hot enough to burn you. Plus, they are totally quiet.

1. Not what I expected.
I guess I should have learned by now that you get what you pay for. I should not have expected much from this unit. Sometimes you can get a great deal and save a lot. Not in this case.

The box arrived really damaged. I honestly don't know how the item itself was not damaged. Among the other less severe damages, there was a hole all the way through the box on one side.

Once we got it installed, I would say "cute" is the best way to describe its appearance. I realize most electric fireplaces don't look like the real thing, but they have gotten much more realistic in the last few years. This one looks more like they did when they first came out, more like a toy than most late model electric fireplaces. We turned the heat on high to see what the heat factor might be on the wall behind it (it's wood). After a few minutes it did get a little warmer. But, I don't think it will do much for the room it's in. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised but I am not expecting...

This product looks great! Very modern looking and can be placed almost anywhere. It's pretty heavy, the only thing I'm not really impressed with is the amount of heat it pumps out. I have a condo, that has wall heaters, and it's the first place I've lived without a fireplace so this was a must. HOwever, my heating bills are very high, and so I try to keep it off after the first two months. The flames look pretty nice, and the rocks inside are a nice touch.

1. Great Little Heater--Absolutely Silent
We purchased this heater two years ago and liked it so well we have purchased three more. It is sturdy, well-built (with a cast aluminum element--no thin metal to make noise), and unobtrusive. It is absolutely silent. None of our units has ever made noise. Granted, it has no fan and works by convection only, but having a room heater without the fan noise or the incessant clunking is wonderful. We use ours as bedroom heaters and they work perfectly. First impressions...
Received this in the mail today. So far I'm pretty impressed. At first I was a bit puzzled regarding the instructions and all the switches and dials this thing has but once I figured out how it worked it was easy.

I'm using this to heat up a room that is approximately 10ftx20ft, and this room has a glass sliding door on one wall, and four anderson windows all together on the other two walls (the fourth wall connects to the house). The room does have a very small (about 5ft long) baseboard radiator but it barely heats the room properly.

I have this connected to a Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat, and it works great. I bought these heaters about a month and a half ago. The fan on one of them stopped working and smelled like it was burning. Contacted seller on Amazon who said they only have a 30 day warranty through them but there is a 3 year warranty through the manufacturer. Contacted the manufacturer who told me they would send me out a new fan and I would need to install it myself. I replaced the fan that they sent me and the heater still did not work. The 3 year warranty is only for parts, they do not replace or fix the unit itself unless you pay to ship it to them and back. There is a reason they only sell these heaters online and not in stores. I'm now stuck with a useless piece of junk.

Great Heaters to assist your furnace
I researched these heaters for a month before we settled on this pair. I am very happy with our purchase. We have had them a month now and we have used them, sometimes both at the same time and sometimes, just one, most nights and all weekends. My heat bill went up $50 which would have happened with the furnace that rarely came on. The big plus, besides the reasonable cost to run is the level of warmth. I can now feel comfortable in sweats without having to layer up so much. Glad we bought the two pack!

1. Pro's and Con's, in a nutshell
First off, I got this nat gas heater at the end of November of 2010 for a 17'x 22' finished basement room with a 7' drop ceiling. I live in the Northeast so we get pretty cold winters here. This heater was purchased for a secondary back up heating system in the event of a power failure however, I use it daily and love it. My initial concerns before the unit was installed: plumbing gas pipe, ventless emmissions, CO2, odors and function(s). I'll address all the concerns as best I can.

-Plumbing gas pipe: Don't do it yourself, hire a professional, you'll sleep a lot sounder, a small price to pay for safety (it'll pay for itself in the long run anyway)
-Ventless Emissions: I researched here and there and everywhere, this camp is split from what I can see, some say there is and some say there isn't any, I don't know. The next thing I cover may or may not be related to this.
-CO2 and odors: I installed $40 Kidde CO2 detector 12 feet away from the heater and it still...

2. It's good but not fantastic
The only glitch on this heater is the picture of a digital reading on amazon's site. The heater came in with a sticker where the digital reading should have been. Set up was easy, I had a guy at lowes plumbing dept help me with the parts. Make sure and buy the leak checker fluid and watch for bubbles. I also used a flexible coil they use for gas stoves and dryers. The flexible hose also has a built in union so you don't have to install one. The heater works really well with a cracked window or overhead fan on to keep humidity down. The room heats up fast but does have some cool spots. It's ok for what we are using it for. There is an odor and will go away in time. The odor is not natural gas but the heater itself burning off impurities. The built in thermostat works well shutting on & off the heat on its own. I would suggest getting a cheap digital thermometer to help you regulate the heat.

Effective home heater
After a few power outages last winter, we purchased this heater today and installed it. Wow! It adequately heats our living room and kitchen and if the downstairs bathroom door is left open, covers that as well. Better yet, with it running, our furnace has yet to kick on with the thermostat set at 68 (it's 37 outside right now with a wind chill of 30).

The only con I can think of is that the blower really isn't very efficient. We are using a small pole fan behind the unit to distribute the warm air more evenly, although a ceiling fan would do the same if you have one.

Definitely well worth the purchase price. We were debating whether to get this one or a different non-vented natural gas heater with logs and "flames" but decided for $100 less, we could do without the esthetics and stick with pure function.

OK for a small room.
I live in Ohio in a small wood frame country home. My main source of heat in the winter is a forced air propane furnace. Propane is very expensive and I bought this Duraflame heater to help keep my heating bill down. It is in my livingroom which is about 14' x 18' with 9' ceiling. The heater is a beautiful peice of furniture. Very attractive wood, and it is quite heavy, which I think is always a sign of quality construction. I have to admit that this unit has kept my furnace from running so far, however, we haven't had any really cold weather yet. BUT, we have had a couple cold nights in the 30's and the heater couldn't keep up. I have a feeling that when the weather turns really cold this heater isn't going to do much good. It seems to be great for cool weather but not for the really cold stuff.

1. Very good product - 4.5 stars
I am very pleased with this heater. It has one or two quirks that I didn't expect (hence the 4.5 stars), but it puts out a terrific amount of heat, looks great and was a real bargain - Amazon is the best.

What I didn't expect:

* It's much larger than I expected. My impression based on the pictures I could find was that it was much smaller, but be prepared for a sizeable heater;
* Contrary to the description, it doesn't have a digital temperature readout. I was a little annoyed at first, but then most temperature gauges don't work well anyway, and I heat the room to feel comfortable and not to a specific temperature, so this doesn't matter much to me now;
* The thermostat works differently than I expected. The unit puts out a constant amount of heat, regardless of the setting, but the higher thermostat settings make the unit run until the room is hotter before it shuts off, which works fine;
* I run my heater on a 40 lb. propane bottle. If...

2. Great Little Stove, Nice to Have...
I have used several different types of this kind of stove in different locations. Currently have an all electric house with a pellet stove. Found a really nice like new 50 gallon upright propane tank at a yard sale that I'm using right now.

This is not a good do it yourself project for a home owner. These things require a real installation from someone trained and qualified. Once I got the tank, it needed a regulator, a POL, two pieces of flex (one outdoor, one indoor) a ball shut off valve, some schedule 80 black iron pipe to go through the wall with a lot of other pipe parts and a sediment trap.

THEN once everything is set up, it REQUIRES a real leak test and a gas check before it's put into service.

Once all that was installed correctly and completely tested out? It worked great. Probably took over half an hour to get gas to the pilot light though. Which is normal, air gets in there and it has to be purged out while the thing is attempting...

The Verdict Is In (and the verdict is GOOD!)
Ordered the heater back in May of 2012. A licensed plumber (certified in propane) installed the 16 feet of propane line. My jaw dropped when I got his bill: $400.05 -- did he really need to include that nickel? The heater cost me $179.95 and I see that it is now going for $239.95. You might want to purchase it off season.

I hooked up the heater to a 15 gallon propane tank and connected the line to the tank using a Mr. Heater 5-Feet Propane Hose/Regulator Assembly. It says right on the regulator, "LOW PRESSURE." ***BE SURE YOUR REGULATOR CAN DELIVER LOW PRESSURE (i.e., it may be a hose rated for high pressure that you can turn down, but you need to run low pressure into the heater or it can damage it. I didn't want to take that chance of any faulty guesswork, so I purchased the hose that had the words "LOW PRESSURE" stamped right on the regulator).

I own 3 vornado heaters, including this one, and they have been the best i've owned by a wide margin. here's why:

* they fan enough air to mix the room air and maintain a more uniform temperature (their advertising is true in that respect)
* no 'hot toaster zone' in front of the heater, with the rest of the room cold
* it is quiet
* the thermostat works! the heater puts out less heat after the room has warmed up
* this heater may appear to take longer to warm up a room for one reason: it is heating up the whole room, not just a small zone immediately surrounding the unit.
* It does use nearly 1500 watts, which is the maximum a heater can consume to be UL approved on a conventional 15Amp household outlet/circuit. The only way it puts out less heat is if you account for a more active fan. The reason the heat feels less when you put your hand in front of the unit is due to the larger amound of air being fanned. 2. It Works, But Be Patient
It's very important not to get confused (as I suspect some reviewers have been) between two very similar Vortex models, the VH2 and the DVH. The DVH does indeed break almost instantly and should be avoided. This model, the VH2, on the other hand, is perfectly adequate for the price. No small electric heater in this price range is going to do a great job of quickly heating a large drafty room on an extremely cold day, but the VH2 does a find job. You will have to be patient however: it will take several hours to notice much of an effect in large dining room or kitchen. I live in an old drafty icebox of a house built in the 1930's. Even when I run my gas heater, it doesn't do much good. I needed a space heater, and bad! I was wary of buying a space heater as I figured it couldn't help, but I'm glad I got this one! I read the instructions, followed their recommendations

for a large room and in about 15 minutes it took the chill off and made it so much more comfortable! It even reached into the surrounding hallway and dining room. I'm quite pleased. As a pet owner, I also appreciate the smaller vents that keep curious kitty cat's out of the heater. My cats all congregate by it and there's no way for them to get inside of it.

First one did not oscillate so had a new replacement sent to me which works fine.

2. Love This Heater!
The heater I ordered because mine went out and I went to all local stores and everybody just had a sale on them so they didn't have any in the surrounding towns of me at all! I looked up heaters on Amazon.com found this one was a little sketchy about the product for the price comparing to my last buys on heaters from local stores. Package came in fairly quick. Once opened up and plugged in it was instantly blowing out warm air in a cold room. The features are good just wished it had a auto timer to turn it on like my others do. Overall this is a awesome heater and am thinking about ordering another for another room. It heats my living room and kitchen area pretty good here in Louisiana when it is in the 30's i can stay comftorable. So it is a better product then the other few I have!

Problems:

Loud beep when timer mode ends which always wakes me up. Why would they do that?

In automatic thermostat mode it goes on and off but only with the high speed fan setting. So the heating is loud and not gentle. Why wouldnt they employ the lower fan setting for simply mainting a room's heat?

The thermostat is crude. It is built into the unit which makes it innacurate and constantly fluctuating depending on whether its on or not. The heater heats up past the temp you set it at so you get fairly wide swings in temperature. Employing the low setting in auto mode could have mitigated this but apparently they didnt want to bother.

Most annoying of all, the oscillation isn't silent. It makes a tiny little clicking sound when it reaches the end of one direction and begins moving in the opposite. It's just loud enough that I can hear it from my bed a few feet away and it drives me crazy because it isn't a constant "white" noise...
