1. flames quit working right away
I guess you get what you pay for...but I just wanted the ambience of a "flame" in my living room. The heat is a bonus. I was replacing a previous electric fireplace. The flame "effect" has already stopped working, and I've only had it for about a month or so. If I "bang" on the back of it, the flame tries to work, but makes a grinding noise and quits again. My advice is to spend more money and get something a bit better than this.

2. Good buy for the money
I purchased this item on Sunday afternoon and it arrived via UPS ground this morning (Wed). I noticed instantly that the unit does not resemble the online or box photo. The handle is very shiny brass and the front door is shiny plastic (like a child's cheap toy#. The rest of the unit is made of thin, shiny metal #again, like a child's toy#. The legs are platic. It took about ten minutes to remove from the box and screw in the legs. It turned on instantly and has been running since #for about two hours). It makes more noise than I had anticipated but it's not overpowering. I am rating this four stars because I have no previous experience with electric fireplaces and I am not sure how what I have described compares with other units. If you are looking for an affordable, small, ambient, supplemental heat source that looks nice from across the room then buy this unit. If you are looking for something substantial or authentic, you will be disappointed.

This small stove looks nice, but is very cheaply built. When you open the front door, the plastic bends almost to the point of breaking just to overcome the magnet that holds it shut. The fan is very noisy sometimes, other times it's quiet. The bearings act like they were going out from day one. The flames work.....sometimes. If they don't move, bang the sides and they usually take off. I should have sent this back, but it really wasn't worth the effort after assembling it.

1. Great Heater! Heats 1260 sq ft quickly
I use this heater in a relatively unisulated (only 1.5" thick fiberglass on steel building walls) 1260 sq ft building (30'x42'x14'). It has an easy starting push-pin and an easy to rotate knob for adjustment of high/low. There isn't much sound difference between high/low, but there is definitely less gas usage on settings less than high.

The manual recommended checking all the fitting connections on the included hose for leaks. I kinda took that for granted assuming the unit should be perfect. After 2-3 uses found a leak at one of the fittings. It was quickly corrected with removal and re-installation using thread sealant, but it just goes to show that reading the manual and following the directions are always a safe bet.

Like any open propane heater, this unit has no way of venting out doors so you want to make sure and use an appropriate Carbon Monoxide detector along with proper ventilation of the enclosed space. I have a CO detector that plugs into the...

I live in Kansas where the winter is always from 0 to 30, my 3 car garage is half finished with r19 and no drywall. Need to work in the garage, usually it's about 10 degrees warmer then the temp outside. 22'w X 30'l x 11' h. cracked the back door to the garage and fired it up on low for about 20 minutes it was comfortable for jeans and sweatshirt. Easy hook up, fittings do not seem to be leaking at this time but will keep a look out. Slight propane smell but was expected. All in all Good Buy!

I had used an electric heater which cost a fortune to run. If you need to heat an area quickly, just aim it in the direction needed. I bought this from eBay for around $190. I have two other electric space heaters so comparison was an easy task. I bought it for our high ceiling bedroom which is about 300 sf. Ceramic heater was useless because hot air would rise up. Then I bought a Holmes Infrared Quartz Heater from Wal-Mart , this was a lot better than the ceramic heater but the fan was really noisy and there was no way to turn it off. 2. Great Little PTC Heater...
I have an Iheater and the Dr. Heater and I like the Dr. Heater better. They are both good units but the Dr. Heater is smaller and easier to carry around from place to place if needed and the wheels underneath are spaced closer together thus easier to place on top of other units such as a speaker unit that is not in use or a large air purifier that I have thus not taking up any floor space if needed. It also blows heat out harder than the Iheater but in the end, I think they both kick out about the same amount of heat energy.

The Dr. Heater is made of real wood also, where the Iheater and allot of others on the market have plastic shells.

Keep in mind folks that these are just space heaters BUT they are more power efficient and do kick out a bit more heat than the other numerous space heaters that I have and I have quite a few unfortunately... C. Ferrisi may not quite understand what PTC is. I looked it up. "Positive temperature co-efficient - PTC heating elements are small ceramic stones with self temperature limiting characteristics. PTC stones have fast heating response times and plateau once the pre-defined reference temperature is reached." The infrared lights produce the heat. This type of heating is how you can heat a large area without creating a huge electric bill. Which is why we have a couple around the house so our furnace (which is electric) will not kick on as often. It saves electricity without having to run around the house in a parka! LOL

My husband wanted to buy one of these last fall, and I was unconvinced. We had a power outage last winter when it was -30 degrees outside and suffered for three days with no heat in our house. After that, I was persuaded to go along with his "crazy" idea. We are using this as a natural gas heat source. The great part about it is that if we lose electricity again this winter, we will still be able to stay warm and comfortable. One of the things I like about it is the moisture that is put into the air by the gas burning. The humidity in our house is staying around 60 degrees when we have the stove running. We are going to get rid of the old humidifier, as it is no longer needed. We are both very pleased with our purchase.

We had a professional run the gas line and hook it up for us, and bought a CO2 alarm for the house, for safety.

2. I wouldn't leave the room with it on
I have three propane fireplaces in my home. I love being able to warm up a room quickly and watch the fire dance. This one looks nice and sets up easily - except that the instructions didn't say where the battery for the electronic starter went. A phone call answered that question easily (you unscrew the starter button). If you are looking for a reasonably priced stove that puts out a lot of heat, it does. Unfortunately for me, the room I put it in is only 13x16 and it heats up so fast that I can't sit and watch the fire for very long. So if you like to sit and watch flames dance, consider getting a smaller stove. My other concern is that when it kicks on, the gas comes out for several seconds before it catches fire with a big "whosh." My other fireplaces don't do that. As long as it is in a big room and far from any curtains or fabric, it is probably perfectly safe, but where I have it, I turn it off when I leave the room just to be safe.

Good Product, Terrible Seller
I purchased the Bainbridge II Dual Fuel Freestanding Stove with an optional blower attachment. The Stove works great for its intended purpose. The blower on the other hand did not work at all. When I purchased these items I believed they were going to be brand new products like the item description stated. The blower came in a box that had the return receipt of another customer still inside it. So, someone else returned it because it didn't work and then the company resells it to me as brand new! I have exchanged a couple of e-mails with the company about it but then nothing. They have gone unheard of! I'm now out $100 because this company refused to stand behind their sale. 1. Defective Product and No Support From Manufacturer
Two days after I received this stove, it started to malfunction. Since I'm not at all interested in burning my house down, the stove has been sitting in a corner since January 18th, while I've been trying in vain to contact the manufacturer. I've tried email, phone calls, their useless customer service portal and even their facebook page. Based on comments on facebook, I am far from the only person who is dealing with faulty products and a complete lack of customer service. The seller did respond to my email immediately and contacted the manufacturer on my behalf, but I still have had no resolution to this problem.

Update 02/20/2012: I want to note that that seller, Electric Fireplaces Direct, took care of my problem by providing a replacement stove that arrived today. I appreciate this, since this was a manufacturer's warranty issue and not a problem with the seller or shipper. I never did receive any contact from the manufacturer and will make a point of not purchasing...

2. expensive to use for heat
I purchased this for Christmas and it shipped fast and damage free! It looks nice for a small electric heater although it heats only the size of a average bedroom nice on HIGH non stop. My power bill tripled after running it for a month so now it sits completely shut off. Keep in mind if you purchased this that it's expensive to use for heat.

Even though the H-8010 is a heavier wood cabinet it makes the heater very stable. It is surprisingly easy to move with the smooth wheel base, even on carpet. I like the Overheat Thermal Cut-off and Tip-Over Safety Protection features. LED is easy to read.

The unit temperature can be increased or decreased easily with the remote as well as shut off remotely. Even after running the unit all night the entire cabinet remained cool to the touch. I also like that I can shut off the power/LED from the rear switch so that I don't have to unplug the unit when I'm away.

I reduced the temperature on our home heating system and ran the Optimus in the living area during the evening and bedroom at night. With lower whole house heating we have less static and less dryness in our home making it more comfortable. The big bonus was the December heating bill - 45% less than the previous years bill! I'm considering using it at work.

2. Not winter yet, but very nice warmth at night
It's not winter yet but has been as cold as 32 overnight. I can't comment on the cost yet and will update when the energy bill arrives.
I'm using this to supplement the heat on my second story colonial home. UNDERSTAND INFRARED TAKES TIME TO PENETRATE YOUR WALLS, FLOORS , FURNITURE AND YOU! IT DOES NOT HEAT THE AIR. This little unit is a very nice looking cherry stained cabinet that matches the furniture. It has a luminescent blue LED SCREEN like a high-end appliance. The heat is FAR FROM INSTANT. It takes hours to heat up BUT once it does after maybe 4-5 hours for my second story 2300 sq ft home it is a wonderful pleasant heat. Even the cold bathroom tile floor is pleasantly warm!

I have yet to turn my furnace on but if this is energy-efficient when the bill comes, I will order a second for the downstairs . Infrared is a penetrating heat that will take the chill off. So far this is a thumbs-up unit! In addition I got it directly from amazon and it shipped overnight!

It came regular shipping in just a few days -just as promised. The instructions were clear except it didn't specify the wire required or breaker size. 240 volts (16.67 amps) You could probably use 12 gauge- 20 amp, but I used 10 gauge 30 amp- to exceed the 80% limit factor on the breaker. It is about as quiet as a regular fan forced plug in portable heater- but puts out alot more heat. (It wouldn't burn anything around it though.) It was easy to install- I surface mounted it to a block wall- and made a frame to cover the unpainted housing- out of white plastic lumber. (cheaper than going to another site to buy the $60 surface mount-frame kit). Appears to have quality parts. The grill is white and neat looking. I almost bought the 3000 watt unit - but I am happy with this 4000 watt one.

1. Love This Little Heater
This is a great little heater if you don't need to heat huge spaces. At 10K BTU it is powerful enough to heat my 640 sq ft basement to 75 degrees even with a crack in the window and outside tempreture of 30 degrees. If you use a good quality Kerosene such as Crown 1-K or a reputable K-1 Clear suitable for use in unvented Kerosene heaters, you get virtually no odor from this heater. Adjust the flame correctly and it is a sweet burner for sure. I may use this one regularly to knock the chill off on those extra cold nights. I would recommend this heater.

2. Excellent pick for a smaller unit.
This is a solid little kero heater. It doesn't have the traditional twist -type knob for on/off and wick adjustment. Instead, it has a adjustable lever that slides up and down. Next to the lever is a push-type button to extinguish the heater, which sends the lever up to the off position.To start the heater, you simply push the lever all the way down to the bottom position and hold it there briefly. This engages the battery-operated ignition and lights the wick quickly. Interestingly, the heater has a audible chiming sound that is heard when the unit is ignited. After the unit lights ( in about 1-2 seconds) the lever can be released. This causes the lever to sit in the wick adjustable range on the lever slide.I have not had to adjust the wick once since purchasing this unit about 1 month ago.The fuel tank is of the type that is removed,filled and placed back in the heater from a hinged cover on the top of the unit.I was a little confused about the fuel level meter at first but have...

I have owned my Sengoku Heat Mate for two winters now. Because I am an emergency preparedness buff, I studied up on the topic of kerosene heaters for sometime. Just purchased this (Lowe's $38) and used it last night. I've used various (all ceramic) models over the years and was very pleased with this one - - planned to return to Lowe's for a second unit and was checking prices on Amazon. Will now be exchanging it for the tower version of this model (didn't realize it featured a multi-function remote) which received great reviews here. The oscillator works well (90 degrees side to side).
NOTE: despite the claim here of an internal tip-over switch (not stated on the carton) this unit will not shut off until the overheat sensor activates. Bought this from Lowe's. All functions worked well. The timer was odd in that you set how many hours ahead you want to turn it on, but that was not hard to grasp. I had two issues with this unit: You have to turn the timer on every night in order for it to come on in the morning before you get up. You can't set a timer and have it run on its own like a light timer. We were using this for a sunroom so it would be warm when I got up to let the dog out every morning. The problem we had was that we either got a flaky unit, or the whole design was bad, because if we wanted the unit to work properly we had to turn it on and then off before setting the timer. If we didn't do that, the unit would turn on, but the room would still be cold. The nights we remembered to turn it on and off before setting the timer I would wake up to the room being warm and the heat maintained. Since I wanted a low maintenance heater this one was getting to be too much remembering for me and I took it back.

Works great
We live in a drafty old house that was built in 1855. The kitchen is freezing! 63 when the rest of the house is at 71. The heater runs a lot in the kitchen during the day, but keeps us comfortable. I use it in my daughters drafty bedroom at night and it shuts off when the temp is reached so she's not overheated! $10 rebate going on through Jan. 31, 2013 too. Good price for what you get. Whoever shipped this product was remiss in several areas: It was poorly packed, not enough protection. The outer box was not marked "fragile" ( which it is) or "this side up" ( which it should have been). A part of the log fixture broke off, and was rattling around in the box; several fragments broke off, though it is somewhat still useable. The spinning fixture kept bumping into the plastic in front of the log, and would stop completely. With a little tinkering, my husband was able to make it operable, but he should not have had to do this. Also, one of the doors was broken off, possibly in transit.

Pros:

While the product description does mention a circulation fan, I don't see one - and frankly I'm glad it doesn't seem to have one. It's silent, totally silent. Setting switch 3 (Bottom Element) to ON (375 Watts), more than ample to heat my entire upstairs. A pleasant slow event heat.

The product isn't UL listed, but it is ETL listed. There is an overheat circuit interrupt with a button on the back of the unit, and sensitive tip over cut-off switch. Very pleased with the safety of the unit overall.

I just got mine and plugged it in. You felt immediate warmth even at the lowest setting with no sound. I don't think I will put it on high because low generates enough heat for my comfort. Maybe later in the bitter cold of winter I can update with a higher setting.

As with all Quartz heaters you have the glow from the tube but it is not bright. The picture shows all four elements going that is the highest setting one tube for each additional setting comes on for a total of four.

Also very important the one advertised says 1 year warranty mine says 3 year so the one in the picture could be an earlier version or just a misprint.

Only draw back is it is not the prettiest to look at but I bought it for warmth not decorum. Would of gotten 5 out of 5 if it had a blower or was better looking.

Very efficient and effective.
This heater puts out more heat than any I ever tried, and I own 8 different types of electric space heaters. The combination infrared and convection is what I think makes this heater special. Although I cannot really put my finger on it, it seems to have a different effect on different people. For myself I set this on the lowest 375 watt setting and I am immediately warm, even in a large 21x20 Family room with a 17'2" ceiling. For my wife and my mother, they are not impressed. It needs to be on 750 watts for them to be just ok. I do not know if it is something about the infrared that does not affect everyone the same. The heat it puts out is not a gush of fan forced heat, it is more of a consistent heat that warms you immediately, I don't know how they cannot feel it. 1. Small Unit, Big Perfomance
This unit does a great job heating my workshop. The bracket allows me to mount it to my ceiling so it doesn't take up any additional space. It is much quieter than the last heater I had. It's alot of power for the price. I would recommend it.

2. Works Great!
I bought this to heat a mostly insulated 3-car garage workshop. This unit would struggle to heat this much space in a severe climate but our winters here in the Pacific Northwest are fairly mild. My garage is quite comfortable to work in after an hour or so when outside temperatures are in the 35 to 40 degree range. The unit is thermostatically controlled so you just need to let the space get to the temperature you want and turn the dial on the back down until the heater turns off. From there it will turn itself on and off as needed. It is a bit on the loud side, but isn't nearly so loud as the power tools I'm using. I suspect this would be quite expensive to run if you used it to heat a garage all winter, but it's fine if all you want to do is heat it a day or two a week. The upside is that this has made my garage workshop useable year round and I don't have to wait until spring to begin work on projects.

Update: My 20'x 20' master bedroom with a 15' vaulted ceiling is just too big for this heater. It runs continuously and can only warm the room 7 degrees above the temp of the rest of the house. It looks like I will need to switch back to central heating, since no electric space heater goes above 1500w.

Overview: Overall this seems like a great little heater, the handle does make it hard to carry, a slight curve in the inside of the handle would have made all of the difference in the world, but I had already read all of the complaints regarding the handle before I bought it so I knew what to expect.

I am using it in a master bedroom that is approximately 20x20 with a high 15' vaulted ceiling. I will find out tonight if the room is too big for this little heater. I also have it plugged into Kill-A-Watt to approximate how much it will cost me per month to run, but more on that later.

Problems: One big gotcha, big enough to almost make me take it back...

2. A happy consumer!
Even though this model is not the top of the honeywell line, I'm glad I made the decision to go with it. I have three other brands in my home and none can compete with this model. After reading some of the negative reviews of this product, I was a bit wary about buying, but it was recommended to me by a source I trust.
As it turns out, there is NO beeping sound when the temperature changes, and as for the annoying light...I've had alarm clocks that were worse than the light from the tower heater. If the light bugs you, all the more reason to snuggle under the blankets. I love being able to set the timer on the heater and crawl under the blankets, and not having to crawl out to turn it off!

It's made in china and there's no manufacturer information. So many components are farmed out in China-manufactured goods, I always wonder about quality control.

We bought ours on sale last April and didn't use it through the summer. We've only been using it 2 weeks and it works really well. It heats our master bedroom easily and without any noise whatsoever. Can't tell you about how much electricity it uses, haven't really got a bill yet that reflects its usage.

We're using it instead of our central gas heater. Why heat the whole house when we sleep in just one room?

So far I've got no regrets. It's proving to be a competent little unit.

2. Not As Advertised
Don't buy it. The claims are all false. It will not heat 1500 square feet. It will not cost $1 a day. In running it 8 hours a day, my electricity bill went up $100 dollars for the month. To cost this unit at $500 is ridiculous. I bought the Silicon Scientific Model FH-1500 in March 2012 for $150. So the present price is not a today only price. This unit would be good for warming your feet for a short while but that is about it. I bought a little unit from Wal-Mart for under $100 and it works just as well.

My dad bought 2 of the Gen 1000 units for my family, as we live in New Hampshire, and at the time heating oil prices (and gasoline) were very high. We thought this would help save money, as the previous year it cost us $600 to $700 a month to heat my 2800 square foot home, at an average heat of 69 during the day and 65 at night. I will say that the heaters do a great job, are vitually silent, can be easily wheeled around, and do heat from top to bottom. They don't create absolute comfortable heat all over a room, especially if, like me, you have older windows, or a den that is over a garage. That being said, my average electricity bill is $180 a month, mostly because I have 6 children, do tons of laundry, vacuum several times a week, bake and cook a lot, etc. Our bill went up to $350.00 when we used both units, and it took both units to heat my downstairs...we still had to turn the heat on in our upstairs. If this heater wasn't a bit noisy, I would give it 5 stars. It heated up my room within a few minutes, even with the door ajar. Both the main unit and the remote are easy to use; there is even a hook on the back of the unit to hang the remote, so it's not misplaced. I like the fact that it heats the air, not a specific object, so that I do not become over-heated. In addition, the unit is light-weight, but sturdy and thus not likely to get knocked over. If I need another space heater, I'll purchase a second one.

This is the second Trim Kit I have purchased. (Left the first one in previous house). The instructions for assembly are bad and difficult to follow. Just pictures with no written instructions. Could Be Easier to Assemble With BETTER INSTRUCTIONS
Well-constructed & does what it's designed to do, but it took me 6 hours to assemble and install this fireplace frame. The problem is mostly due to shortcomings in the instructions.

First, there are practically no instructions at all; it's follow the pictures . . . if your eyesight is good enough. Do not attempt this if you are spatially challenged, a novice at do-it-yourself projects, or lack sufficient lighting.

Second, the baggy of tiny black screws contains a surprise. Those screws all look much alike, but two of them are definitely not the same as the rest. 1. Excellent Heater
This is an excellent heater for anyone who can provide a 20 amp 210-240 volt power outlet for it. We use the same outlet that supplies our 220 v. air conditioner in the summer months. We set it on Auto so the fan cycles off with the heat when the room temperature reaches our setting. It has a thermal cutoff safety switch that works as it should and cuts off the power if the unit should overheat, such as from a piece of fabric cutting off the air flow. This QPH4A is our basic heat source for one floor of a small house and it really does the job when it's cold outside. The heater is compact and unobtrusive and the best feature in comparison to other heaters in its class is that it is very quiet -- no rattling and wheezing, just a soft woosh of warm air.

after much searching I settled on the Q-Mark QPH4A Portable Electric Heater for my wife's potting shed and craft room, which is a separate building on our small property location. Works great and it heats her potting shed in record time. Her shed is 10' x 16' with a 10 foot ceiling, and is insulated and covered with T&G interior walls. As such, she only has to run Q-Mark on the low setting. Great product, and is relatively quiet and the thermostat works just fine. Only thing I would have liked added to the Q-Mark would be a visable thermometer to see the actually temperature; but we just added a separate thermometer and that does the trick just as well. Heavy duty and well built, I would recommend the Q-Mark without any doubt! Just buy it, and forget your heater worries!!!!!!!!!

2. Great product!
I ordered this product for our two bedroom apartment. We do laundry for two adults a 6 year old and an infant. This product is amazing! The dryer shipped quickly and got here fast. I did have to call in and figure out how to put the rotating band back on. It was a quick call an email later and a few basic tools to undo the back and just two hands to put the band back on. (They say during shipping it can come dislodged but it's a quick fix) after that I did a quick wash. (I handwashed our first load of laundry bc we had not ordered the sonya washer yet. It took a little longer to dry since I was unable to get all the water rang out of the clothes properly.

Either way this dryer is amazing. It handles big loads wonderfully.

This is the first time I have ever left a review. This is worth the money!!!! So worth it. Our electric bill has been level for the amount of clothes we wash and dry I thought it was going to higher but it has been pretty much the same...

Looks nice, but disappointing heat output
While the fireplace container itself, and the fake flame looks really nice, I was quite disappointed in the heat output. Maybe the space I'm trying to heat (1/2 finished basement) is too large, but it seems like the fan didn't throw the heat out far enough to heat seated locations that are only about 10 ft away. By the time the heated air gets that far, it's already at the ceiling (only 7 ft high), so while standing up you can feel some heat, seated you are still cool, even after it running for a couple hours. I'll probably try moving it upstairs to my living room, which is a smaller space. Maybe it will heat that room better.

Performed as advertised. Was fairly easy to install into an existing wall. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The heater does make a little bit of an annoying whining noise when it runs, but you get used to it quickly, I only notice it if it runs at night when everything else is quite. Puts out more than enough heat for the average sized full bath.

2. Works Great!
Bought it for a small bathroom and it really works great to heat it up before showering. It was purchased to replace a small portable heater that sat on the floor. Compared to that, it's relatively quiet and I love the convenience of not having the portable sitting in my way!

A Room Warming Replacement.
This was a replacement for a similar model installed during a bath remodel 10 years ago. This was the right model...as confirmed on phone with Qmark before I ordered it. (The grill looked slightly different, as well as model number.) Best of all, I saved an electrician's bill by installing myself. First attempt...it went on....then an hour later wasn't working. Connections looked correct....but I disassembled the two wires and reconnected...and it's perfect. (Wires somehow got loose in the connectors on my first attempt.) Good product...best price.

1. Good for the money
I've been using this tower heater/fan since October and I've had a fairly good experience. It's basically the taller version of the "SPT SH-1508 Tower Ceramic Heater with Ionizer." The SH-1508 was too short for my tall bed and adding an extra foot to the height in the SH-1509 made is ideal. It heats up my mid size room pretty well.

When I first got this product it looked like it was in good condition (the box definitely wasn't though). But it seems that there's a little bit of blurred area on the front inside of the remote control signal receptor. But that area is a black background with a red light covered by the transparent plastic so I can't really tell the blurred plastic cover anymore unless I look closely.

The fan was very quiet when I first got it. I am a very light sleeper and even the smallest sounds can wake me up, and I slept through fine when the heater went off. However, about a couple weeks ago, I noticed that the fan, when especially oscillating,...

This is the only one nice contemporary European looking heater made in USA.
I was searching for heaters on-line since 2006, when I bought a house, and all the heaters available at Home Depot and Lowes are ugly baseboards with 300 years-old look. I understand, I am in Queen's New England, old-fashion area, but even on-line it was nothing.
Later I found Canadian Stelpro SC "Electronic Convectors", but they are expensive. I install them on my second floor.
This season I was going to buy a few more for my first floor and I did search again and I found this Dimplex heaters.
I was really surprised that it's American! Finally! Some progress in America!
I installed them (it's really easy) and I am using my programmable thermostat and external relays to control them. I simply set heater's thermostat to max.
It's been a month since and I am really pleased with look and performance. Quiet, fast, nice.

2. Broke quickly, no replacement parts available, not made in USA
Not a great review.

Mine broke within the first few hours. The thermal cutoff switch kept tripping. Everything checked out (airflow, clearance, voltage, etc), so we suspected it was just a defective/too sensitive thermal cutoff switch (cutting out at too low of a temp).

Unfortunately, my research could not find any available parts. Called Dimplex, and they confirmed the defect and advised returning to Amazon (thanks Amazon for easy return!). Dimplex also confirmed that they don't make parts available for the heater and don't have a service center available to repair. Ie, this is a throw away heater series.

Glad I realized this now, while I could still return and buy another brand. Would have been really upset to learn this 5 yrs from now when something else broke.

My research showed that StelPro models come with parts list and parts are available through them, at least. I'm ordering one of those (too bad Amazon doesn't carry...)...

right out of the box worked great. Heated a 34x34 garage in no time at all. only problem the propane tank I was using was frozen. Temp in the garage before the heater was -5 after it was 50.

2. Come on in it's warm inside
This is a FANTASTIC heater but there are some things a new buyer should be aware of. It'll bring a 30x60x12 garage from 0 to 60 in about an hour and a half. However you really do need a 100 lb tank. You can get away with a 40 or 50 lb heating a smaller area on low otherwise the tanks will condense and shut off the gas flow to the heater. They are louder than you'd expect if you haven't used one of these before because of the blower fan. Think mini jet. I've also used the convection style heaters and depending on your needs these are both great. The convection style is much quieter but takes a fair bit longer to heat a large space and you won't get as even a heat in the room. I'm in the process of insulating and paneling a 12x30 portable building to be used as a workshop. During the winter it get's a bit cold here. I got this hoping it would heat the building enough to work comfortably. I couldn't. Kept having to turn it off after every 15 minutes of run time and wait 45 minutes to an hour before needing it again. That's a lot of heat from a device that's slightly larger than ones thigh. 1. Works well, housing a bit tall for some cabinets
I was looking for something to take the chill out of the bathroom with more wattage than an infrared heat bulb, and this low profile unit appeared to be less of a remodel than similar wall units. I was able to cut a hole in the kick panel under existing bathroom cabinets and wire it to a timer, and it definitely warms up the room. I wired it on a dedicated 220V circuit but it has a jumper if you need to convert it to 110V. My only complaint is that the height of the housing was a couple of millimeters taller than the gap from the floor to the bottom of my cabinet face. This meant I had to notch out the width of the housing from the bottom edge of the cabinet face, fortunately this could be done under a drawer so the drawer face conceals the cut edge. The horizontal overhang of most cabinet faces may also exceed the recommended maximum - so far this has not presented any problems for me when running on a timer, but continuous duty might be a problem for heat sensitive finishes on...

2. Great invisible heater!
I bought three of these for my condo remodel and am very pleased. Wired the two bathroom heaters at 750 watts and the one for the kitchen at 1500 watts -- all to timers. The units heat quickly and are totally invisible.

This Lifesmart heater is a good buy for me and I own just about every different type of space heater available. To start, don't expect it to heat 1200 sq ft, and don't expect the wood finish to be outstanding. The wood finish is not bad, but if viewed in direct sunlight you can see all the imperfections in the wood, though acceptable but not for a picky person. You can always refinish the wood, or darken the stain, so it does not bother me. The buttons make a beep sound when pushed, this could wake up the baby. The thermostat when cycling off and on make a faint clicking sound, this could also potentially wake up the baby.

This heater works as advertised. I have had it more than a month so the electric bill came in and met my expectations. I turned down my 3500 sq.ft. home central heat from 71F to 69F. No use heating the entire house with all the kids gone. I use this heater for my bedroom during the night and set it for 73F. It brings the room to approximately 71F and turns off. Then it comes on for a minute for two every 15 minutes to maintain the temperature. I went to Harbor Freight and purchased a Digital Electrical Usage Tester to see how much power this heater is actually using. Turns out it uses 1350 Watts, 114 volts, and 11.8 Amps. If it stayed on all night this would be a energy hog, but since it only comes on approximately 4 times per hour, for a minute each time, the energy use is much less than my central air. Therefore my energy use went down for this past month since turning down my central heat and using this heater to heat my bedroom. Overall it met my expectations. Only one thing I had...

I bought this heater, exact one for 170 shipped off a seller on ebay. This product works so well in my apartment (1000 sf) that we use it as our only source of heat. The built in heater that came with the unit was costing me 70 dollars in gas bills and up a month to heat the apartment in the winter. I was fed up with paying so much for the bill that I decided to take the plunge and buy this... I keep the unit on Low all day and all night. The unit peridocly shuts on and off (approx 1-2 min every 40-60 minutes) to cycle the heat around the house when the temperature dips below the degree listed on the face of the heater. Right now it is 40 degrees outside and my house is a comfy 72 (listed on the home thermostat, when the lifesmart heater is listed at 72). My new bill for electricity cost me compared to the previous month (no heater) only 10 dollars more, likewise my gas bill went down 70 dollars as compared to the previous month with the apartment heater on. 1. Great all in one!!! great looking too
I needed the temperature in my baby's room to stay the same even though we're in a small apartment. This really did the trick. It looks great is very compact compared to other ugly large heater humidifiers AND it is both a heater and humidifier so even when it warms up in there it does feel so dry. It also has a tip over feature, which or safety is great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wish you could operate the humidifer separate from the heater but you can't. Can't have it all I guess. Oh, and we have a modern looking apartment and this fits right in!

2. Need a humidifier? DON'T buy this!
We bought this because of the humidifier feature. However, the humidifier is very hard to fill (You have to pour it in at a trickle), and the reservoir is tiny. Fortunately, neither of these things are really a problem because it takes weeks to even produce enough humidity to go through that tiny amount of water. I think you could literally just leave out a glass of water and it would evaporate faster than what this thing puts out. DON'T waste your money buying this. The heater is totally adequate, but you can find one just as good without the humidifier for one third the price. Buy a separate heater and humidifier and you'll still come out ahead and you'll have a humidifier that actually works. Seriously. I never take the time to write reviews, but this thing is a joke. Save your money!

Great Heater
I bought this heater for my husband who suffers from arthritis. He likes is extra hot in the room so we were using a space heater at night. However he started getting bad nose bleeds from the hot dry air. The SPT SH-1505 Ceramic Heater with Humidifier has stopped the nose bleeds altogether. I can feel the humidy in the room and the heater works well to heat a room. I would recommend this product.
